Some experiences in life are so painful, they cause deep and lasting suffering. That suffering is what we call trauma. Trauma is a deep wound of the heart and mind that takes a long time to heal. It hurts every part of us: our relationships, our bodies, our thoughts, and our faith. Our unique method of trauma healing unites proven mental health practices and engagement with God through the Bible.
Method

Weekly we bring a group of people together in a safe place, where they can help each other heal. It is a holistic and Bible-based approach to helping people heal from trauma which recognizes that trauma affects every part of a person: mind, body and spirit. The lessons use art, stories, activities and questions to help people engage deeply with themselves, with God, and with each other.

We create a space for them to tell their story of pain and grief and bring their laments to God. Through a process they are able to experience the love of Christ by taking their pain to the cross, experience healing, restoration, and reconciliation with God, self, and neighbor. This allows the church to become a place of healing for others.

Curriculum

At the heart of our method is a book called Healing the Wounds of Trauma, which contains a set of practical lessons that lead people on a journey of healing. At the heart of that book is the Bible, which tells us about the love of God.

It’s designed for anyone to use, with simple language and clear ideas that are easy to understand. It works in small groups, led by our trained facilitators who don’t need to be professional counselors.

We believe in restoring dignity to each believer, and it starts in their ability to participate in the process.

I've been in ministry for over 20 years, and with the The Hope Project since 2016. I believe in restoration. The Refuge has been a refuge even for me. My hope is that the ladies gain vision for their lives. These ladies are vulnerable, we accompany them through their process, so that they can experience the love that God has for them; find their identity in Him as someone special and important with a purpose.

I've been with Til He Returns since 2020. I help Doña Ceci lead the participants of our counseling programs to the feet of Jesus where they are being transformed. I enjoy this ministry because I want every person to know the love of God and that his promises are for them to receive through His son Jesus Christ. My prayer is that God will do a miracle in each of their hearts so that they can walk in a new and different way, facing life with a hope in Jesus and bringing His love to others.

I want our service to the Lord to provide a safe space, free from judgement and full of hope. Those in our programs simply need someone, a friend, to help them face their situations. Our ministry looks to transform lives, to remind them of their identity in Christ and that they are capable of making their own decisions to change their circumstances.
