Like a quilter carefully places finished quilt blocks on a design wall, arranging fabrics, comparing colors, shifting – rearranging – so our God strategically connects his people together drawing their hearts to where he wants them to serve.  Such was the case with Amy, a woman of faith and obedience walking out God’s plan a thousand miles away from the Ministry Center in San Jose, Costa Rica.

Amy was an artist working in a mime ministry in Guatemala when she felt the tug on her heart to get involved in Costa Rica.

Humans are extremely intricate beings with emotional connections to each moment they are connected to, both directly & indirectly. A past good or bad experience will determine why and how they respond to something in the present. Their upbringing, beliefs about themselves, socioeconomic class, and systemic prejudices against them all determine their behavior.

Missions…

I remember being in youth group and thinking that missionaries were old and ancient, maybe like Moses, older holy men and women that might look down on me, and that me going on a mission trip was impossible because I just wasn’t near as holy. No one ever told me that. Somehow I just thought that. No one actually ever told me anything about missions. AT ALL. Just that in such and such month there was a trip across the world to an impoverished nation to spend a week doing good things for people.

We are then able to connect them with local churches and into our own ministry programs.  Since we are only a few people, we are able to make the most impact and be the biggest blessing through mission teams. Teams mobilize ministry in real IMPACTFUL ways so that we can take the torch and run with it.

We get asked a lot, A LOT, how we became missionaries. Often times, people just want a cool story, BUT lately, we have had many show interest in actually becoming missionaries. This is v e r y exciting. The deal is, it’s not for the faint of heart. 

Many go into missions for all the wrong reasons. Let me be very clear here…being a missionary should not be because you love to travel, want to fill your passport full of stamps, or want to take pictures for your Instagram feed and “influencer” portfolio.
